🌿 Syngonium (Arrowhead Vine)

Syngoniums are graceful, easygoing aroids native to the tropical forests of Central & South America. Their arrow-shaped leaves shift color with age 🌿 from fresh green to creamy, blush, bronze, or pink (depending on variety). In kokedama, they arch and softly trail, creating a full, sculptural look that suits shelves, tabletops, or hanging displays.

• Bright, indirect light keeps leaves lush and coloration vivid.
• Tolerates medium/low light, but growth slows and variegation/pinks may fade.
• Avoid harsh direct sun (leaf scorch).

• Keep the moss evenly moist, never soggy.
• Water when the ball feels light or the moss looks dull 💧 typically every 5–7 days in average homes.
• Use the cup method: pour ½–1 cup slowly around the ball while rotating so all sides hydrate.
• Do not soak or wring/squeeze; roots
• Light misting 2–4×/week helps in dry rooms.

Signs to watch: Edges curling or crisping = too dry; yellowing on multiple newer leaves = too wet.

• Feed monthly (spring–summer) with ¼-strength balanced liquid fertilizer.
• Skip or halve feedings in fall/winter. Gentle, regular feeding > heavy doses.

• 65–80 °F (18–27 °C); protect from drafts below 60 °F (16 °C).
• 50–70% humidity preferred; fine in normal home air with occasional misting.

• Wipe leaves to remove dust and boost shine.
• Pinch or tip-prune to keep a compact, bushy dome; let stems trail if you want length.
• Rotate the kokedama weekly for even growth and light exposure.
• In kokedama, Syngonium typically stays happy 10–14 months before a refresh.

Rewrap/repot when:

• Moss dries very quickly after watering or feels compacted.
• Roots push through or ball becomes rigid.
• Growth stalls despite proper care.
  If potting conventionally, use a chunky aroid mix (bark + perlite + coco coir) and water when the top inch is dry.

Syngonium leaves change shape as the plant matures (juvenile to more lobed forms) — a living example of plant “shape-shifting.”
