💚 Neon Pothos (Epipremnum aureum ‘Neon’)

💚 Neon Pothos (Epipremnum aureum ‘Neon’)

The Neon Pothos is a showstopper with its vivid, electric-lime leaves that keep their glow year-round. A tropical trailing vine native to the Solomon Islands and Southeast Asia, it’s prized for its bold, chartreuse color and forgiving nature. Whether cascading from a shelf or brightening a dim corner, this kokedama variety brings instant light and life to any space.

☀️ Light

  • Thrives in bright, indirect light to maintain its vivid neon color.
  • Can tolerate moderate light but may fade to a duller green in lower light.
  • Avoid direct afternoon sunlight, which can scorch the delicate leaf edges.
  • Best placement: near an east or north window or several feet back from a bright southern exposure.

💧 Watering in Kokedama

  • Water when the moss feels light, dry, or pale, roughly every 7–9 days depending on humidity.
  • Pour about 1 cup of water, letting it soak evenly through the moss ball.
  • Rotate during watering so all roots stay hydrated.
  • Mist lightly once or twice a week to maintain humidity and keep the moss lush.
  • Avoid prolonged soaking or standing water to prevent root rot.

💡 Tip: If new leaves lose their shine or edges brown, it’s a sign the moss is staying too dry between waterings.

🌿 Feeding

  • Feed monthly in spring and summer with a ¼-strength balanced houseplant fertilizer.
  • Skip feeding in cooler months when growth slows.
  • Consistent, light feeding helps preserve the neon hue.

🌡 Temperature & Humidity

  • Prefers 65–85 °F (18–29 °C) and medium humidity (40–60%).
  • Enjoys being grouped near other tropicals or lightly misted plants.
  • Keep away from heat vents or cold drafts — temperature fluctuations fade color and stress roots.

✂️ Maintenance & Growth

  • Fast-growing and easy to shape — trim long vines to encourage a fuller ball.
  • Wipe leaves occasionally to remove dust and keep that bright, glassy finish.
  • Rotate every few weeks for balanced trailing.
  • Can remain in kokedama form for 10–14 months before rewrapping or repotting.

🌱 When to Refresh or Repot

Rewrap or repot when:

  • Roots emerge through the moss or ball feels firm and root-bound.
  • Moss dries too quickly or no longer holds moisture evenly.
  • Growth slows despite proper light and water.

If repotting, use a chunky tropical mix of coco coir, perlite, and orchid bark for breathability.

💫 Fun Fact

The Neon Pothos is a naturally occurring color mutation of the Golden Pothos. Its unmissable chartreuse glow adds vibrancy even in low-light spaces and makes it one of the most photogenic plants in any collection.
